THE JABBERS

"In 1977, GG Allin began recording with a band which would later become The Jabbers. The first two Jabbers singles (Beat, Beat, Beat/Bored to Death/One Man Army & Cheri Love Affair/1980s Rock N Roll) were recorded with GGs brother Merle on bass and various local guitarists. In 1979, GG put together a band to play live. Childhood GG Allin friend Alan Chapple was recruited to play bass, and Rob Basso joined as lead guitarist. Chris Lamy joined the band 6 months later, in 1980, as rhythm guitarist and in 1983, Mike ODonnell became The Jabbers final drummer and recorded with the ScumFucs.
During the years 1979 - 1984, The Jabbers played or recorded with Wayne Kramer (MC5), Dennis Thompson (MC5), David Peel (The Lower East Side), and Cheetah Chrome (The Dead Boys). The Jabbers released a full-length album in 1980: Always Was, Is, and Always Shall Be, which was followed by numerous EPs, 45s and compilation cuts. Rhino Records included You Hate Me & I Hate You on their Faster & Louder: Hardcore Punk compilation. The Jabbers shared disc space with The Germs, Fear, Husker Du, Agent Orange, X and The Wipers.

Live shows during the 1979 through 1984 period typically consisted of broken glass, blood, and topless female fans. The band played loud and fast and were banned from every punk club in the northeast. The Jabbers played their last show together in May of 1984 after which GG performed with The ScumFucks.

20 years later, The Jabbers have reunited to wreak their brand of Punk Rock and Roll havoc once more. Alan Chapple, Chris Lamy, and Mike ODonnell have been joined by new vocalist, Wimpy of The Queers and lead guitarist Harlan Miller, also who played with the Queers and more recently, the Tunnel Rats. UMA DAS MELHORES BANDAS INGLESAS DE SEMPRE TAMBÉM NO MYSPACE...

"Amebix, now recognized as one of the most influential ponderous bands ever, was born in England during the summer of 1978. Originally trolling their minds and coming up with the thought provoking moniker the Band With No Name, the group of dirty, broke punks recorded a trashy six-song demo and managed to sell a meager four copies of it. Opting for the name Amebix, the band released a track from the demo called "University Challenged" on the first edition of the obscure compilation series "Bullshit Detector" . "

"Life was chaotic from start to finish for Amebix, because they were really living the lifestyle that their lyrics and image portrayed. Guitar player Stig writes on the gatefold of the posthumous album of live and studio recordings "The Power Remains" that "none of us signed off the dole in all the years we were together." Living in squats (abandoned buildings) and other unstable accommodations, eating out of the garbage, scamming and hacking out a living by any means possible, it's amazing that the band were able to amass equipment and practice on a somewhat regular enough basis to last for nine full years. However, through all of the strife and chaos, the band were astoundingly prolific, recording enough material (including bootlegs and posthumous releases) for seven full-length albums, two 7" records, two compilation tracks, and the previously mentioned Band With No Name demo in that period of time. "Hailing from the notoriously tough Manchester suburb of Wythenshawe (once the skinhead capital of the North) Slaughter & The Dogs originally formed when Wayne Barrett (vocals) and drummer, Brian (Mad Muffett) Grantham, got together with bassist Howard 'Zip' Bates joined them in late 1975. Originally twin guitars, Mick Rossi became the sole guitarist when Mike Day left. Wayne thought up the name for the band whilst lying in bed prior to their first gig.... a mixture of Diamond Dogs by Bowie and Slaughter on 5th Avenue By Mick Ronson...hence Slaughter And The Dogs!

They did the usual rounds in local clubs and working men's clubs doing covers of Lou Reed, Bowie and started writing their own numbers. Going from strength to strength and picking up good press they found themselves at the forefront of the Manchester punk scene along with the Buzzcocks and The Drones mirroring the London scene.

They blagged their way onto the bill of the Free Trade Hall gig with The Sex Pistols and Buzzcocks and managed to get themselves as second on the bill and first on the posters advertising the event and missing out The Buzzcocks! They came on stage with long hair, satin, guitar poses a la Ronson etc and were hammered by the press and audience. "We really deserved the slagging we got when we first started, but I think its gone on a bit long, we should given the chance to show what we can do." Wayne. Shy Talk 2. Manchester Fanzine.
But after seeing The Pistols and their look and sound and after taking to heart the criticisms they were astute to enough to see which way the wind was blowing as they cut their hair, changed their clothes and took on the new style like so many other bands of the time.

Glen Matlock: "I liked them...I thought they were a fun kind of band. I didn't consider them to be a punk band although they got involved in that 'coz that was what was going on at the time."
Tony Wilson: "They probably had a little bit too much Bowie and a little too much Mick Ronson but nevertheless they were good."

On Maclarens advice they set of for London and The Roxy club Mike Rossi "The aim after the Free Trade hall thing was for us to try and hit London."

Their gigging schedule grew heavier and they were soon playing at leading London punk venues like The Roxy and Vortex as well as others like the Marquee and Nashville. Live they were quite a sight with Wayne's predilection for talc in the absence of smoke generators !!! The Roxy gave the band their first recording break when they appeared on its live album with two songs 'Boston Babies' and 'Runaway'. "

RAPPRESAGLIA

Punk Rock since 1982

Formed in 1982 during the hardcore punk explosion, Rappresaglia has been one of the bands symbolizing that season of fury that made Italian groups famous worldwide. Soon they started to look back at their roots recovering spirit and sound of ’77 punk bands like Ramones, Clash, Stiff Little Fingers without being inspired by a specific band but always trying to create their own personal style.

Wretched were, and still are to this day, one of the most influential bands in the Italian punk scene. Together with other great Italian bands, such as Negazione, Indigesti, Raw Power, Impact, and countless others, Wretched incarnated the fury of Italy's punk scene of the 80s. As a result, their music and, most importantly, their message continue to inspire people even today.
Wretched formed around 1980 in the city of Milan. The first lineup was composed of Gian Mario on vocals, Gigi on guitar, Fabio on bass, and Giancarlo on drums. In 1982, Wretched unleashes their music onto the punk scene with their famous split with Indigesti, another great band from Milan. The band sang rigorously in Italian, as the members found it easier to express their message by singing in their native language. Through their songs, Wretched wanted to deliver a strong anti-war message and throughout their carreer, the band always took a pacifist stance. The band also stood by their DIY ethics by self producing all their records on their label, Chaos Productions. Wretched were also one of the protagonists of the infamous Virus squat in Milan, which was one of the most, if not the most, important center in the Italian punk scene. In 1983 came their first EP "In Nome del Loro Potere Tutto e` Stato Fatto." During that same year, the band lineup went through some changes as Daniele replaced Gigi on guitar, and Crema replaced Giancarlo on drums. With the new lineup, the band recorder their second EP "Finira` Mai," which lead the way to their much beloved first LP "Libero di Vivere, Libero di Morire," which was released in 1984. The band's message and powerful music was quickly spreading throughout the world, as Wretched started to appear in numerous international compilations; most notably, Wretched appeared on the sensational compilation "P.E.A.C.E.", which featured bands from all over the world. In 1985 came another lineup change, as Zambo became the new drummer. With this lineup, the band released the LP "La Tua Morte Non Aspetta" in 1986, which showed the band had started mixing a bit of heavy metal in their sound. In 1988 Wretched released their last record ever "In Controluce," as shortly after the band split up due to internal problems and Gian Mario's shredded vocal chords.

About Hellspiders :

"All began when the Gods visited S.n.o.b. in the form of a burning bush and told him his divine mission was to form the sexiest and most powerful Rock band of all times. S.n.o.b. had already been the guitar player in the legendary grind band S.N.O.B. (from which he gained his nickname), and the mentor behind crust terrorists DECEIVER, among other obscure projects. His particular personality (read has hes a really weird guy), mixed with his talent to music and his problems with alcohol and the law made clear that not any person would fit in this band. So he started by recruiting long time friend and music partner Roger, ex-bass player in S.N.O.B. Roger, who was by now a psychobilly addict, is a reserved and warm guy, friend of his friend, an easy to speak to person, and a drunk, so he fitted really well. The next step was to find a voice and a drummer. First they tried to contact a certain drummer named Nelson, but apparently it was impossible, so they recruited childhood friend Preto to give it a try. Preto was a very burned out punk and a really talented guy. With a bottle, a can of sardines and a bag of air he has a drum kit and the party going. But his problems with alcohol, and with no steady home, squat or street to live in, made it very difficult to find him and rehearse. In the meanwhile, a voice was found in the figure of another long time friend, the devil himself! Diabo was an inexperienced singer, but his powerful voice and his fat belly with gangrene convinced them he was the right choice. The only ex-alcoholic in the band, he has a sordid past with links to police problems, occultism, necrophilia and other strange things. To replace Preto, who went into rehab, they once again invited another long time friend, C. C was a very hallucinated and strange friend, who gazed into infinity looking for God knows what, with the help of some chemicals. But of course that didnt stayed that way for long and he started getting really paranoid and crazy. They are all after me, he usually said until one day he snapped. Hes currently being treated in a quiet and peaceful place. Eager for their mission to be fulfilled, the Gods lightened the path, and so, through a friend of a friend of a friend, they finally managed to contact the drummer from Hell, Nelson. Nelson, who played in the legendary Glam Rock mercenaries MORTE FORTE, and was behind other obscure projects, decided to give it a try. Coming from unknown place somewhere in the north, with unknown past, and links to things we cant write here, hes a great guy as long as you dont speak to him. When the four Chosen Ones finally came together, and presented themselves to the world in a cold November night, the circle was closed and the Gods were pleased. The Lamb opened the seven seals and the seven angels blew " .

BRASIL 80´S CLASSIC PUNK ROCK

LINK SITE: http://www.colera.org/
OLHO SECO

The Jam, London, Runaways, Eddie & the Hotrods. Eu rapava e deixava o cabelo crescer. Aí fui trabalhar por conta." Em 1981 e 82 o Olho Seco fez diversos shows incluindo o famoso festival O Começo do Fim do Mundo.

EXCELENT STREET PUNK MADE IN CHINA

"You have never heard of any real Chinese street punk music? Well, come on to Demerit live! There are not only pure street punk sound but also independent thinking and passions! Their nearly 100 Beijing live shows in the last 2 years have proved it perfectly! Formed in the summer of 2004, Tsingtao, China, the early Demerit--Li Yang (vocal/guitar),Xue Yang(bass) and Zhang Wei(drum) --stayed in a small rehearsal room and did not play any live shows. Later, Zhang Wei dropped out, Zhe Shuangsheng (drum) and Zhang Ning (Guitar) joined in. Zhang Ning took the guitar ,Li Yang could concentrate on singing then. One month after birth they played their debut on the stage of First Tsingtao Beach Music Festival, then the band played live in Jining and was planning to move to Beijing. Again the drummer had to leave, the band were bogged down. But what the adversity brought them are higher passion and stronger belief. Frequent changes of drummers gained their experience and varied their style. In April,2005, the drummer super muscle man Zack(US) joined, which made Demerits music really a bomb. Their mature music arranging, ideas and tacit agreements led the band to a bigger progress. In this period, the band performed nearly 100 lives, including their own concert in Tsingtao, the Second China Outdoor Punk Festival, the art activity of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada, the third Zhengzhou SIAS Rock Music Festival, their own concert Fight Your Apathy in What bar, and the first rock concert in south Beijing. They also began to be interviewed by Chinese and foreign press. In the beginning of 2006, the band recorded their first demo CD. As Zack was leaving Beijing, this record was named Never Say Die, which suggested that the band wouldnt give up, this record also brought them quite some confidence. Then Zhen Song-who s been Li Yangs old friend-replaced Zack. Then the band was again busy doing rehearsal. In only two weeks they got all composed songs ready and never delayed one show. The new line-up appeared in the Beijing show of the Sweden hardcore punk band Insurgent Kids tour in 13 Club, took part in 2006 MIDI Music Festival, which is Chinas biggest rock music festival. In MIDI, in the ground of 10,000 people, when the intro was rising, when the band was burning up, the crowd couldnt hold their passions and excitement back, the whole ground was bursting with passions. Demerits movingly incendiary performance made itself stand on the stage much more truly, moreover, on the top of Chinese street punk wave. They are not only giving you excitement and passion but also trying their best to get beyond themselves in every live show. They need you to think everything around you over, to see yourself clear, without saying empty slogans. That is real punk live, a beginning of a new era of Chinese punk music. They put their understanding of music, world, life into very every song. They present the world in their mind completely. They are singing contemporary youths confusions, anxieties and expectances. In this material world, this commercial era, they persist with their belief and way of life. Just as a rock n roll senior said: In a material world, the most difficult thing is doing music. But none of those could hold Demerit back, because they are so pure and introspective. On the same stage, Demerit is going far more. As they said: Anger may look cool, but never as real as love. Every soul has his understanding of the world, what we need is to experience it and practice it sincerely, not anything else. Any words would be unnecessary! Chinese real street punk! Demerit! The true Chinese street punks!!! punks everywhere who would like to come and play in China and give us a chance to play in your country ."

NÃO ESQUECER DE DEIXAR UMA ESMOLINHA...

INTERTERROR

Ultimo Resorte, Decibelios, RIP, Attak, FrenopaticSS y Siniestro Total.

Crime – San Francisco’s Doomed

Crime formed in 1976 in San Francisco, California. Ricky James (Drums), Frankie Fix (Gtr/Vox), Ron The Ripper Greco (Bass) & Johnny Strike (Gtr/Vox) may well hold the dubious honour of being the first US Punk group to release an independent record, the self-financed “Hot Wire My Heart”/”Baby You’re So Repulsive”.

You could say Crime were criminally overlooked (ouch). Whatever the history books say, they are invariably wrong. Some will tell you that Crime were the real deal. Others that they didn’t fit it. From that you will understand why Crime are so important. It’s all about NOT fitting in.

Crime played gut-level punk rock n roll sometime before the genre had been fully formed. Their fellow progenitors included Rocket From The Tombs, The Real Kids & a whole host of long forgotten US groups. From 1976 until 1977 Crime were a party way out of control. It had to crash - & it ultimately did. The only live footage of Crime I’ve ever seen was of them playing in the quadrangle of San Quentin State Prison. Needless to say, the prisoners looked scared - Crime were dressed as LA cops!!!! Confrontational? Crime?

The following interview was conducted by Mike Horn for Punk magazine (Issue 11) from 1977. It has been used here without his permission because you’ll be far more interested to read it than read line after line of me crapping on about how great Crime were. Their words speak volumes:

CRIME interview from Punk #11 (1977)

Interview by Mike Horn:

I'd been hearing weak grapevine rumors about the Crime band. So I decided to catch their act. I took Page, the world famous bring-em-back-alive photographer, along with me.

We caught up with Crime at the Cinemadrome, a bombed-out rehearsal hall near the corner of Sixth and Howard in San Francisco. The neighborhood featured warehouses, a sprinkling of bondage bars and a methadone clinic, so the band's black limousine really stood out. Three of the band members were there when we arrived:
Frankie Fix (Guitar, Vocals)
Johnny Strike (Guitar, Vocals)
and Ron the Ripper (Bass)

They were sitting on a ratty couch down at one end of the cement-floored room, staring at the egg cartons that had been nailed to the walls to give the Cinemadrome that studio look. We sat down, and Crime opened up.

FRANKIE: There's a lot of bands that want to cash in on the punk scene and get in on the fad, but we're the real punks! It's tough making it big here in San Francisco, and we've talked about moving to another city, but as long as we're here...

JOHNNIE: Some people think the Nuns are the big punk band around town, but they're not. I hate to say it, but we're the only punk band happening at the present time in San Francisco.

PAGE: How long have you been together?

FRANKIE: About a year.

PAGE: Where are you from?

FRANKIE: Er, Harrisburg. Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Ricky James [aka Ricky Sleeper/Tractor/Flipper], the drummer, entered with Dee Dee, a female friend, and we were introduced. Ricky never said a word the whole time we were there.

FRANKIE: Yes, as I was saying, Johnnie and I had a record shop in Harrisburg. We've been together a long time.

JOHNNIE: We're the first and only Rock and Roll band in San Francisco!

This evoked a dead silence. We just looked at each other for a minute or so.

HORN: When I can't think of good questions to ask, I just keep my mouth shut.

FRANKIE: That's OK, we'll ask the questions.

HORN: What bands do you guys like to listen to?

JOHNNIE: Oh, the Nerves, Patti Smith, Bob Marley, the Ramones, the Dogs, Quick, Killer Kane...

HORN: Where do you play?

FRANKIE: At the Mabuhay Gardens, the Stud Bar... We played the Sonic Rendezvous for a SIR party, a sort of gay Halloween trip...

HORN: I'll bet it's hard to pay the rent on this place.

JOHNNIE: Yeah, we all pool our unemployment checks and just barely make it. It's too bad we can't sleep here.

HORN: Then Crime does not pay?

FRANKIE: No, not yet.

JOHNNIE: But it will.

HORN: That's what the all say.

RON: Are you a real photographer? Where's your portfolio?

PAGE: I don't carry me portfolio around with me, darling! I was a combat photographer in 'nam for four and a half years!
I had 86 pages in Life Magazine! I'd need a fuckin' semi just to haul me slides about! I just carry me camera and a few lenses for jobs like this one! (takes a picture of Ron) You think I'm not a photographer?

DEE DEE: Do you take pictures for Rolling Stone?

PAGE: I'm freelance, like Ike Horn. I'll take pictures for anybody...I did some shots for Steve Miller's album cover last year... I shot the old Doors, the Soft Machine...

JOHNNIE: I haven't listened to Steve Miller in about ten years.

PAGE: What do you want on your album cover? An egg carton?

FRANKIE: No, two dead chicks with their heads busted open in an alley...lots of blood.

PAGE: (gets excited) You want dead people? I've got lots of left-over slides from 'nam! Lots of corpses! I just sold some to Hustler, but I've got some good ones left. How about a couple of chicks napalmed Vietnamese chicks with their heads blown off?

JOHNNIE: Naw.

HORN: We haven't gotten to your message yet.

FRANKIE: We like to come on strong...get real boring...leave 'em stoned.

PAGE: Where'd you get your combat boots?

FRANKIE AND JOHNNIE: Huh?
PAGE: Your boots! (points to Frankie and Johnnie's look-alike shiny new khaki combat boots.) Where'd you get those A-1s?

FRANKIE: The Army-Navy surplus store.

PAGE: I've got six pairs at home. I've got all sorts of gear that I brought back from 'nam.

JOHNNIE: Got any Nazi stuff?

PAGE: No, but I've got a real nice selection of Viet Cong pajama suits, fragment grenades, camouflage material, AK 47s...

Crime lost interest at this point, and went to the far end of the Cinemadrome to tune up, so we turned out attention to Dee Dee, who looked a lot like Eva Braun. She was leafing through a copy of the Philosophy of Andy Warhol and chewing gum, but she took the time to answer a few questions.

HORN: Where are you from?

DEE DEE: Detroit.

HORN: Are you a musician?

DEE DEE: I'm a vocalist.

HORN: Are you in a group?

DEE DEE: Not right now. I'm looking around, checking things out. I might put a group together. San Francisco sucks.

HORN: What do you think of the Nuns?

DEE DEE: They're OK. I like Crime better. They have good material, but I don't care for the way they put it across.
HORN: How do you spell your name?

DEE DEE: Dee eee eee Dee eee eee.
We need more new music in Detroit.

PAGE: Yes, but do we need Detroit? I mean, really!

Crime launched into their set at then and conversation became impossible. They did 'Raw Rumble', 'Hotwire my Heart', 'Money Crazy', 'Galvanized Grime', 'Manic Mainline', and were half-way through 'Murder by Guitar' when Ricky broke his drum pedal.

Page had shot a roll of film, so we decided to leave. We'd heard enough. Crime was super loud, with their Marshalls turned up all the way. Their drone reminded me a little of the old Velvet Underground, but they didn't make me fell like dancing. They posed a lot, totally into their self-image of a bad-ass neo-Nazi killer punk band.

They were fake punk.

HORN: Hey, we'll see you later.

JOHNNIE: Have you got enough for a story?

HORN: Yeah, was that last song 'Guitar Lover'?

JOHNNIE: No, that was 'Murder by Guitar'.

HORN: Oh...sorry, I guess that was a Freudian slip.

FRANKIE: Come back any time. We're here rehearsing every night from seven 'til ten.

We eased our way out the door and back onto Howard street. It was a bleak, cold night with the usual Frisco fog.

My ears hurt.

PAGE: Where's the fuckin' safety pins? They're not a real punk band, that lot!

HORN: They want to be one, though. More than
anything Crime wants to be the number one, killer punk rock band in San Francisco.

PAGE: They're too shitty to be punk!

HORN: Well...I think they're straights posing as fag punk rockers. But what if they are? I'm a liberal, let's check out the Nuns...
